Boogie Nights creator Jon Conway presents All the Fun of the Fair, a musical that is an emotional roller coaster ride of love and loss with a heartrending twist. Performances start at London's Garrick Theatre on the 29th of April.

Louise English and Christopher Timothy join the cast, and a selection of David Essex's hit songs and popular album tracks underscore the play's carnival atmosphere of motorbikes, dodgems, fights and sneaky scams.

All The Fun Of The Fair, David Essex's debut album, inspired this poignant contemporary story, in which he plays Levi Lee, owner of a fun fair and lately widowed father of a mutinous teenage boy. A gypsy clairvoyant who has fallen in love with Levi foretells a future full of danger and magic, and the fair isn't always fun, despite the fairground horses, romance, rock and roll and candyfloss. Parents of teenagers, and everyone who has experienced the pangs of lost love will relate to this touching tale.

Garrick Theatre

Walter Emden designed London's Garrick Theatre, which was built in 1889, and CJ Phipps consulted on the site's planning, made difficult by an underground river. In 1986, stage designer Carl Toms restored the gorgeous gold leaf auditorium, and the front façade was renovated in 1997. This London theatre has staged mostly comedy-dramas and comedies, and originally seated 800 people on four levels, but the closure of the gallery has reduced the seating capacity to 656. Its opening production was The Profligate, and it is named after David Garrick, a prominent Shakespearean actor.

Recent noteworthy productions staged at Garrick Theatre include No Sex Please We're British, An Inspector Calls, Mamma Mia!, Phantom of The Opera, Mousetrap, Sister Act, Priscilla Queen Of The Desert, Sound Of Music, Stomp, We Will Rock You and Wicked.

This London theatre is located at Charing Cross Road, London, WC2H 0HH, and the closest Underground station is Charing Cross/Leicester Square. The closest train station is Charing Cross.
