Avenue Q at the Wyndhams Theatre, London
The funniest show in town!
Wyndham's Theatre, in London's West End, will be showing Avenue Q from the 19th of March. Back in its fourth year as London's most hysterical show, this is a musical the likes of which has never been seen before, whose hilarious vulgarity will have audiences rolling in the aisles.
The characters who live on this downtown New York street are unemployed, unlucky and frantically searching for their purpose in life, as well as wondering what can be done with a B.A. in English.
Touted as 'the funniest show in town' and 'a monster hit', Avenue Q stars Daniel Boys, along with a cast of extremely talented puppets and performers, with music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx. A few of the unforgettable songs featured in this West End musical include It Sucks to Be Me, If You Were Gay, Everyone's a Little Bit Racist, The Internet Is for Porn, Mix Tape, I'm Not Wearing Underwear Today, and Special.
Wyndam's Theatre
W.G.R. Sprague designed Wyndham's Theatre in around 1898, and it opened in 1899, fulfilling actor and manager Charles Wyndham's dream to build his own a theatre. It is one of only two London West End theatres that Wyndham built. The Prince of Wales attended the opening, where the first ever performance was a rendition of T. W. Robertson's David Garrick. Originally the theatre had three levels, but renovations have since made it into four. English Heritage listed it as a Grade II building in 1960.
Some notable productions that have been performed at this London theatre are Dinner, As You Like It, The Vagina Monologues, A Voyage Round My Father, The Witches, The Shawshank Redemption, Shadowlands and An Inspector Calls.
Wyndham's Theatre has a seating capacity of 759, and is in Charing Cross Road, London, WC2H 0DA. Piccadilly Circus, Charing Cross and Leicester Square are the closest Underground stations, and London Charing Cross is a National Rail station as well.
