Camille - The Dark Angel
For six weeks, Camille O'Sullivan will warm her audiences with her world-renowned act, The Dark Angel, at the Apollo Theatre in London’s West End. This smouldering cabaret-type show has been playing to packed theatres around the world, and Camille lends her sultry style of singing to the songs of artists such as Nick Cave, David Bowie, Jacques Brel and Tom Waits.
Camille has given performances with La Clique, an Olivier Award-winning show in London, and had sold-out solo shows at Edinburgh Fringe, Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Roundhouse. She is famous for her intense, passionate singing style, so if you would enjoy a performance so sizzling it seems as if a spark will ignite the room, make a date to see Camille and her five-piece band’s smoking-hot musical, The Dark Angel, at the Apollo Theatre.
The show runs from the 7th of December 2009 until the 17th of January 2010.
Apollo Victoria Theatre
Not to be confused with another London theatre of a similar name, the Apollo Victoria Theatre is a famous installation on the West End. E. Warmsley Lewis designed this London theatre, which is slightly more modern than some of its counterparts and was opened in 1930 as a large-scale cinema. The Apollo Victoria Theatre was turned into a concert hall after it closed in 1981, following six years of closure.
Since then, this London theatre has hosted famous productions such as the Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof and Starlight Express to mention but a few.
Currently the Apollo Victoria Theatre is staging a production of Wicked, an adaptation of the highly-acclaimed novel by Gregory Maguire. The story follows the friendship of two young sorcery students who become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glenda the Good – from the Wizard of Oz. Booking is available until 3 April 2010, and shows are on Monday to Saturday at 7:30pm, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2:30pm.
This London theatre seats 1,524 and is situated on Wilton Road, London, SW1V 1LL. The closest Underground and train station is Victoria.
