Dirty Dancing, the musical based on Eleanor Bergstein's smash hit 1987 film arrives in the West End in October. Set in a holiday camp in America in 1963, Dirty Dancing is a coming-of-age story about a teenage girl who falls in love with a dance instructor during a family holiday. It remains the biggest independent film of all time and the soundtrack has sold 41 million copies. The timeless story of first love is full of heart pounding music, pure dance energy and breathtaking emotion and features the hit songs from the movie including Time of My Life, Hungry Eyes, Hey Baby, Do You Love Me? and She's Like The Wind. Aldwych Theatre
W.G.R. Sprague designed the Aldwych Theatre, which Seymour Hicks and Charles Frohman funded and Walter Wallis of Balham built. This London theatre opened in 1905 as a partner of the Waldorf Theatre - now called the Novello. It became the location of numerous Royal Shakespeare Company productions and was a popular haunt of the Bard's most ardent fans.
At present, a production of Dirty Dancing is showing at the Aldwych Theatre, and features a wonderful 37-member cast and 35 smash-hit songs, including I've Had The Time Of My Life, Hungry Eyes, Do You Love Me? and Hey Baby. Now booking until 27 March 2010. The performance is on Monday to Saturday evenings at 7.30pm, and matinees are on Friday and Saturday at 3pm.
