Prince of Wales Theatre
C.J. Phipps built the Prince's Theatre in 1884 for the well-known manager and London theatre actor Edgar Bruce, and it was renamed the Prince of Wales Theatre in 1886. Sir Cameron Mackintosh comprehensively restored the building to its former glory in 2004. The Prince of Wales Theatre has featured many famous performers such as Peter Sellers, Bob Hope, Gracie Fields and Barbara Streisand.
Currently on stage is the blockbuster musical Mamma Mia! by Catherine Johnson; this story of a mother, her soon-to-be-married daughter and the search for three possible fathers has more productions currently playing than any other musical. It is an energetic celebration of life featuring the timeless and popular music of ABBA.
