Phantom of the Opera

Piccadilly Circus

"soaring ballads and sensational stage effects."

If you've never seen this classic tale of love, obsession and passion, you've missed out on a rare treat. The Phantom Of The Opera is a gripping romantic musical with all the vital ingredients to keep you on the edge of your seat, spellbound to the last. The Phantom, a musical genius with a disfigured face who hides away in the Paris Opera House, falls in love with a young protégé and undertakes to train her. Her rejection enrages him, and a tragic saga results. Based on the French book by Gaston Leroux, which was first published as a serialised story in La Gaulois in 1909, this romance has stood the test of time and still captivates its audiences.

The musical melodrama is one of London's favourite shows, and in October 2008 it celebrates its eighteenth birthday. The Phantom Of The Opera's amazing special effects, spine-chilling, memorable score and sumptuous costumes and sets makes Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit musical an event that should not to be missed. It won the Most Popular Musical Audience Award at the Laurence Olivier Awards in 2002, and has chalked up more then fifty other important theatre award wins, which include seven Broadway Tony Awards and three West End Olivier Awards.

Two actresses share the starring role of 'Christine' for the first time in the London showing of The Phantom Of The Opera, with Leila Benn Harris and Robyn North each performing in four shows per week, and Earl Carpenter continues to play The Phantom.
