A divine new musical comedy which will raise the roof at the London Palladium

The West End Musical, Sister Act, is a brilliant comedy that is sure to have you laughing all the way through, and long after, although you may also shed a tear or two along the way. Sister Act tells the story of Deloris Van Cartier, played by Patina Miller. Deloris is witness to a murder and goes into protective custody in the last place anyone would expect to find her: a convent.

She finds that she can't cope with the nuns' rigid rules, and wreaks havoc that the nuns find they love, like teaching the choir disco moves. This draws the murderers' attention, who are soon hot on her tail, only to discover they now have to deal with the entire sisterhood.

Whoopi Goldberg, who made the role of Deloris famous in the movie, Sister Act, co-produces the West End musical stage version, to add that extra bit of magic.

London Palladium

The theatrical architect, Frank Matcham, designed the London Palladium in 1910. It was the setting for a series of ITV variety shows from the 1950s to the 1980s, and Andrew Lloyd-Webber's Really Useful Group bought it in 2000. Another well-known feature of this London theatre was the revolving stage, but this was removed and updated in 2002.

The London Palladium is one of the largest and most famous London theatres, and the venue for the Royal Variety Performance. It has staged many great productions, including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The King and I, and, from 2002 to 2005, it hosted a theatrical version of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

The London Palladium is currently showing the stage adaptation of the film Sister Act. The production features a score by 8-time Oscar-winner Alan Menken, whose previous work includes Little Shop of Horrors. Booking is available until 13 February 2010. Show times are Monday to Saturday evenings at 7:30pm and matinee performances are on Saturdays at 3pm.

This London theatre has a seating capacity of 2,286, and is near the Oxford Circus tube station, at 8 Argyll St, London, W1F 7TF.
