"Packed with shocks, sorcery, special effects and incredible costumes, WICKED IS A WEST END SENSATION."

If you've ever wondered how the Witches of Oz came to be who they were, don't miss this entrancing fantasy musical that will enthral you from start to finish. Long before Dorothy arrived, two girls chanced to meet in the Land of Oz and became improbable friends. One is attractive, determined and admired; the other is a passionate, clever misfit with bright green skin. Wicked is the tale of how they become the Good Witch Glinda and Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, a captivating saga about the trials and tribulations that their friendship undergoes as they come to terms with their opposing standpoints, vie for the same man and deal with the Wizard's corrupt rule and Elphaba's eventual disgrace.

Wicked is set to the music and lyrics of Academy Award winning maestro Stephen Schwatrz and a novel by Winnie Holzman. It's based on Gregory Maguire's best-selling book, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, which is a parallel novel of L. Frank Baum's classic account The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, told from the viewpoint of the Land of Oz's witches. Wayne Cilento, winner of a Tony Award, directed the musical staging, and Joe Mantello, also the winner of a Tony Award in 2003 and 2004, directs the Broadway musical.

The show has broken global box office records, holds the record for the biggest West End opening, was nominated for ten Tony Awards in 2004, and is the winner of six Drama Desk Awards.

Apollo Victoria Theatre

Not to be confused with another London theatre of a similar name, the Apollo Victoria Theatre is a famous installation on the West End. E. Warmsley Lewis designed this London theatre, which is slightly more modern than some of its counterparts and was opened in 1930 as a large-scale cinema. The Apollo Victoria Theatre was turned into a concert hall after it closed in 1981, following six years of closure.

Since then, this London theatre has hosted famous productions such as the Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof and Starlight Express to mention but a few.

Currently the Apollo Victoria Theatre is staging a production of Wicked, an adaptation of the highly-acclaimed novel by Gregory Maguire. The story follows the friendship of two young sorcery students who become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glenda the Good - from the Wizard of Oz. Booking is available until 3 April 2010, and shows are on Monday to Saturday at 7:30pm, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2:30pm.

This London theatre seats 1,524 and is situated on Wilton Road, London, SW1V 1LL. The closest Underground and train station is Victoria.
